Revenue Rewired Is More Than a Book, It’s a Playbook for Growth

Written by Jay Feitlinger | Oct 13, 2025 4:01:51 PM

After months of talking about it, rewriting it, and doubting ourselves, we finally did it.

Sarah and I hit “send” on the final draft of our book,  Revenue Rewired: Identify & Fix the 5 Leaks Costing you Revenue.

This project wasn’t just another business idea. It was the culmination of 15 years of helping companies, and sometimes ourselves, figure out why growth feels harder than it should.

We poured everything into this book. The messy parts, the wins, and the lessons we learned the hard way.

The Hard Truth About Growth

During the podcast recording, talking about our book, Sarah said something that made me laugh and nod.

“Anyone who’s been doing this for years knows it’s not all rainbows and unicorn farts.”

She’s right. Running a business is tough. It’s full of silent battles no one talks about and wins that don’t always show up on a spreadsheet.

After owning eight companies, I’ve learned that most businesses don’t have hundreds of problems. They have a few persistent leaks that show up again and again in different forms. The same breakdowns, just wearing new clothes.

When those leaks go unchecked, they quietly drain momentum, energy, and revenue.

The 5 Leaks That Stop Growth

Over the years, we noticed patterns across every business we worked with. Almost every problem could be traced back to one or more of these five leaks:

  1. Ownership Confusion – No one knows who truly owns what.

  2. Documentation Gaps – Everyone is doing things their own way.

  3. Misaligned Metrics – Teams are chasing numbers that don’t connect.

  4. Slow Feedback Loops – Sales and marketing are not sharing information fast enough.

  5. System Friction – Tech tools don’t talk to each other or support the strategy.

Once we started naming these, it became easier to help teams see what was really going wrong. As I said on the show, once you bucket your issues, everything starts to feel possible again.

That’s what Revenue Rewired is designed to do. It’s not a patch. It’s a flashlight.

How to Start Rewiring Your Revenue

If you are a CMO or executive trying to untangle your revenue flow, here are the same steps we use with our clients.

  1. Identify Your Biggest Leak

Pick one area that’s causing the most drag right now. Don’t try to fix everything at once. If you focus on the biggest leak, progress comes faster and stays consistent.

  1. Separate Signal from Noise

If a task doesn’t clearly drive revenue or retention, it’s noise. Get your team aligned on what truly matters, and give them permission to pause the rest.

  1. Map Your Flow

Use a simple diagram or our Revenue Flow Audit tool from the book. Visually map where prospects get stuck or where deals stall. Seeing it on paper changes everything.

  1. Prioritize Your Fix

Once you see the leaks, decide what to fix first. Start where the payoff is highest and the effort is manageable. Build confidence by winning small before you chase the big ones.

  1. Review and Realign Regularly

Leaks come back. Check your flow each quarter. Keep communication tight and feedback loops short so you can spot small issues before they grow.

I tell clients all the time, if you can’t explain in one second how your next move drives revenue, you probably shouldn’t be doing it. It sounds blunt, but it saves a lot of wasted effort.

Bringing Back the Joy

Somewhere along the way, a lot of leaders lost their joy for this work.
The meetings pile up, the pressure builds, and the fire that started it all starts to fade.

Sarah said it perfectly during the episode. She said our goal is to bring joy back to being a business owner. That line stopped me for a second because it’s true.

I’ve been there too. Burned out, overwhelmed, questioning if the hard work still matters. But helping people untangle their business and find clarity again is what keeps me going. When leaders get aligned, their teams start moving. When teams move, revenue flows.

That’s the part that makes all the chaos worth it.

Your Next Step

So let me ask you. Where’s your biggest leak right now? Is it ownership confusion? A process issue? A feedback gap that’s slowing everything down?

You don’t need to fix it all at once. Just start with one. Fix that first leak, then keep going. You’ll be surprised how fast things start moving again once you focus on the right problem.
