In order for teams to be successful, they have to be able to communicate well with one another. Communication plays a huge role in not only making sure that work is getting done right, but also in understanding how your team members think and how to best work with each other. Sometimes it can be difficult to develop that level of communication in a professional setting, which is why it is incredibly important to connect with your team members outside of the office.

Meeting with your team outside of the office gives you the opportunity to get to know each other’s personalities a little bit better, which ultimately leads to more of a friendly connection and stronger relationship. Having a great relationship with each other will generally lead to a boosted office morale which improves communication and productivity. This all plays a huge role in a team’s success.

Here are a few of our favorite ways to connect as a team outside the office:

• Offsite activities: Schedule some time to get your team out of the office for group activities every once in a while. Ideas for this range from going out for a team lunch to something more complex, like planning a go-cart outing. Whatever it might be, your team will surely bond over some offsite fun. Some of our favorite offsite activities include going out to lunch and happy hour

•  Outdoor exercise: One of our favorite ways to connect as a team is to go out and get some fresh air. Outdoor group exercise is great for not only team building, but also for stress relief and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Options for outdoor team exercise include planning a team hike or nature walk, playing a game of kickball or wiffle ball at the nearby park, or our personal favorite, yoga in the park.

• Volunteering: Being able to get out of the office for group volunteering brings your team closer together while participating in a bigger cause by giving back to the community and making a difference. Our last team volunteering outing was with Arizona Helping Hands where we spent a couple of hours sorting donated clothing and creating gift bags for foster children’s birthdays. Group volunteering offers a rewarding way to connect as a team.

Whatever method you prefer, taking some time out of the day to spend with your team members will result in better communication and improved morale. If you have any questions about forming stronger connections with your team, feel free to contact us!

Work Habits & Productivity

2. Effortless
BY GREG MCKEOWN
Speaking of actions becoming more effortless, this is another book of McKeown’s that topped our 2022 reading list. Adding onto the powerful guidance around essentialism, this read delivers “proven strategies for making the most important activities the easiest ones,” like mapping out the minimum number of steps, finding the courage to “be rubbish” and more.
