StringCan Interactive works really hard to make our working environment productive, healthy, and happy - it means everything to us. Unhappy workplaces are literally no fun; you can begin experiencing stress which can lead to poor communication and unproductive work. One of our favorite ways to keep an upbeat workplace is to bring our dogs to work!

There are a lot of benefits that come with a pet-friendly environment. First and foremost, pets are huge stress relievers. Studies have shown that playing with or petting an animal can slow the production of the stress hormone cortisol and increase levels of the stress-reducing hormone oxytocin. It has also been proven that petting or even just looking at your pet reduces your blood pressure.

When it comes to pet-friendly workplaces, we’re not alone. Companies everywhere have been more welcoming to pets. Both small and  large companies such as Amazon, Etsy, Google, and HubSpot have also adopted dog-friendly policies in the recent years. A dog-friendly workplace has become a huge part of their company culture and has resulted in higher employee satisfaction, more committed team efforts, and reduced stress.

Along with the stress relieving capabilities of our furry little friends, pets also promote positive social interactions. A pet-friendly workplace will increase employee satisfaction, promote communication and teamwork, and improve morale. With that being said, bringing our dogs to work improves our overall performance.

If all of the above is still not convincing enough for you, consider this, perhaps our pets best trait is their ability to make us smile. Even if you’ve got a major issue happening at work, they can’t help but look at you with those sweet big eyes and you know that you and your team can handle it.

We’d love to hear what you do to maintain a happy working environment! Contact us or leave a comment with fun ways to relieve stress and improve morale in the workplace.

Work Habits & Productivity

2. Effortless
BY GREG MCKEOWN
Speaking of actions becoming more effortless, this is another book of McKeown’s that topped our 2022 reading list. Adding onto the powerful guidance around essentialism, this read delivers “proven strategies for making the most important activities the easiest ones,” like mapping out the minimum number of steps, finding the courage to “be rubbish” and more.
