Take a moment and check in with how you’re feeling about the current momentum of your business. If you’re like most businesses, you’re not really sure which way is up and haven’t taken a moment to slow down in months. There’s no better time than the present to take stock of where your business is and the direction of your marketing momentum.
Taking a Deep Breath
Pausing to take a deep breath is one of the hardest things to do when everything around you is swirling like a tornado. There are endless studies, books, podcasts, and speakers touting the benefits of meditating or taking a clarity break. It’s a chance for you to clear out the junk swirling around in your world, and your mind, and for you to then focus on what’s really important. If you’re thinking, “No way, can’t slow down, must trudge forward at breakneck speed,” you’re A. not alone and B. about to burn out.
Which Way is Up
Ok you took our advice and took a deep breath, and you feel like you’re too deep under the water you don’t know which way is up. If you’re feeling like you don’t know which way is up, your employees and customers might think the same of your business. In order to move forward and make progress, you have to take an unbiased look at which way your business is heading. Are you still in triage mode? Are you doing nothing? Are you making a plan, creating goals, and marketing with the end in mind? Just take a second to draw a line in your mind - where is the arrow pointing?

You’ve got a bit of momentum going for you now. Really you do! Knowing where you stand, you can start to recreate a plan to gain marketing momentum. What message is your brand putting out there? Is it still in the short term, or are you looking more long term? Are you communicating with your customers what your plan is? Nothing drives customers crazier than not knowing. Marketing transparency is a way to invite your customers and prospects back into your business and for you to start moving onward and upward.
